Final Reunion: Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath Set for Farewell Fundraising Concert

In a momentous announcement, Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne reveal plans for one last live performance, signaling the end of an era for heavy metal fans.

On July 5, 2023, iconic heavy metal band Black Sabbath will reunite for a final fundraising concert at Birmingham's Villa Park, featuring performances from renowned bands like Metallica and Slayer, as well as a unique musical collaboration.

The impending concert, titled "Back To The Beginning," is set to mark the first performance of Black Sabbath's original lineup—Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward—together in two decades. Despite his health challenges, including Parkinson's disease and spinal injuries, the 76-year-old Osbourne will perform a brief solo set followed by the band reunion, much to the excitement of fans and family alike.

Sharon Osbourne, Ozzy's wife, shared that his passion for music remains strong. "He's so excited about this, being with the guys again and all his friends," she commented. Furthermore, she indicated that this concert would serve as a definitive farewell for Osbourne, giving him the opportunity to properly say goodbye to his friends and fans. "This is his full stop," she emphasized.

Musical director Tom Morello, from Rage Against The Machine, expressed that the concert would be "the greatest heavy metal show ever". Funds raised will benefit Cures for Parkinson’s, Birmingham Children’s Hospital, and Acorn Children's Hospice, underlining the event's charitable aspect.

The lineup features notable acts such as Alice In Chains, Halestorm, Lamb Of God, and a "supergroup" with musical greats like Billy Corgan and Slash. Sharon Osbourne noted the gathering of icons will also perform a mix of both Black Sabbath and Ozzy songs.

Formed in 1968, Black Sabbath is widely accepted as the founders of heavy metal. They had previously held a farewell concert in 2017, which saw an audience of 16,000. Looking back, Osbourne expressed his gratitude towards fans who have supported their journey. Following their last show, he dealt with significant health issues but conveyed his desire to return to performing, stating, "If I can perform again, I will."

This reunion celebrating a monumental legacy will undoubtedly resonate across generations. Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne’s last concert is poised to be a heartfelt and historic tribute to a band that has profoundly shaped the landscape of rock music.
