FKA Twigs and Shia LaBeouf Finalize Legal Settlement in Abuse Case
FKA Twigs and Shia LaBeouf officially end their contentious lawsuit over alleged abuse after five years of legal struggle.
In a significant legal development, British singer-songwriter FKA Twigs, whose real name is Tahliah Debrett Barnett, has reached a settlement in her abuse lawsuit against Hollywood actor Shia LaBeouf. The lawsuit, initiated in 2020, accused LaBeouf of various forms of abuse, including mental and emotional distress, as well as physical violence.
Though the details of the settlement remain undisclosed, their legal teams released a joint statement wishing each other well and expressing a commitment to moving forward constructively.
Originally set for trial in the previous year, the case had faced multiple postponements and little progress over the years. Barnett's decision to dismiss all claims against LaBeouf with prejudice means she cannot bring these allegations back to court in the future.
The pair’s relationship began on the set of "Honey Boy" in 2018, lasting about nine months before they ended their romantic involvement in 2019 due to scheduling conflicts. Barnett had previously described her relationship with LaBeouf as one marked by severe intimidation and control, stating that she felt “scared” and had developed PTSD as a result.
While LaBeouf has denied many accusations, he has acknowledged a history of abusive behavior towards others and expressed remorse for his actions in past interviews. In a recent statement, he conveyed a desire to accept accountability for his past and wished for Barnett to find happiness and success.
Despite the tumultuous nature of their relationship, both FKA Twigs and Shia LaBeouf are now focusing on their respective careers, with Barnett releasing her acclaimed album "Eusexua" earlier this year, and LaBeouf featuring in the recent crime drama "Henry Johnson."
