Mississippi Man Arrested for Stalking Jennifer Aniston
Jimmy Wayne Carwyle faces charges of stalking and vandalism after breaching the actress's property in a disturbing two-year campaign of harassment.
A Mississippi man was charged with stalking and vandalism this week after a troubling two-year campaign of harassment directed at actress Jennifer Aniston. According to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, 48-year-old Jimmy Wayne Carwyle from New Albany, Mississippi, was arrested following an incident where he drove through the front gate of Aniston's Bel Air residence.
Prosecutors revealed that Carwyle could potentially face three years in prison for his actions. Over the course of nearly two years, he allegedly sent Aniston a series of unwanted communications, including social media messages, voicemail, and emails, starting from March 1, 2023. District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman emphasized the seriousness of stalking, stating, “It can quickly escalate from harassment to dangerous, violent actions, threatening the safety of victims and our communities.”
The situation escalated when Carwyle reportedly crashed his vehicle into the front gate of Aniston’s home, causing significant damage. He was detained by the actress's security guard until police arrived and took him into custody. Aniston’s residence, a midcentury-modern mansion, was recently highlighted in Architectural Digest, and it holds personal significance, having been the venue for her 2015 wedding to actor Justin Theroux, from whom she is now divorced.
Carwyle’s behavior reportedly intensified after the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, as detailed by his friend Marty Merritt in a Facebook video. Merritt described how Carwyle began making bizarre claims and sending erratic messages, including assertions of being divine figures. “I’m so sorry Ms. Aniston that this happened to you,” Merritt expressed in his post. Aniston has not publicly commented on the matter.
