Rute Cardoso, the wife of Liverpool footballer Diogo Jota, has shared a touching tribute to her late husband on what would have been their one-month wedding anniversary, three weeks following his untimely death in a car accident. The emotional Instagram post featured images from their wedding on June 22 and was accompanied by the heartfelt message, “one month of our ‘until death do us part,’” with Rute expressing she would be "forever" his.

Diogo Jota, aged 28, tragically lost his life on July 3 when the Lamborghini he was riding in with his brother, Andre Silva, suffered a tyre blow-out, resulting in a crash and subsequent fire in Cernadilla, located in Spain's Zamora province.

Jota had joined Liverpool from Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2020 and was a key player, netting 65 goals across 182 appearances for the club. He played a pivotal role in helping Liverpool secure the FA Cup and League Cup titles in 2022, also contributing to their Premier League victory last season.

In memory of their cherished teammate, Liverpool has retired Jota's number 20 shirt and a mural near the stadium has been established, adorned with heartfelt messages from fans.
