"Autumn Bardisa faced severe allegations after providing medical services as a fake nurse, exposing patients to potential risks."**
A woman from Florida has been arrested on allegations of masquerading as a registered nurse and posing a significant threat to patient safety. The authorities initiated an investigation following the termination of Autumn Bardisa's contract at AdventHealth Palm Coast Parkway due to doubts regarding her qualifications. Reports indicate that the 29-year-old provided medical services to a staggering 4,486 patients over the course of several months, specifically between June 2024 and January 2025. "This alarming case of medical fraud is one of the most troubling we've seen," stated Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly.
Bardisa had been with the hospital from July 2023 until her contract ended in January 2025. She allegedly submitted fabricated documentation, including a licensing number that actually belonged to another nurse with a similar first name employed at a different AdventHealth facility. When confronted about inconsistencies in her records, Bardisa attributed the issue to a recent name change due to marriage, although she failed to provide the necessary marriage certificate.
In an unfortunate turn of events, Bardisa was promoted in January, but her colleague reported her when they noticed that her nursing assistant license had expired. This report led to her contract's termination and the initiation of a comprehensive seven-month criminal investigation. Subsequently, law enforcement issued an arrest warrant, resulting in her detainment for multiple counts of practicing healthcare without a license and fraudulent use of personal identification. She was apprehended at her residence on August 5 while wearing scrubs.
"This individual jeopardized countless lives by masquerading as a healthcare professional and breaching the trust between patients, their families, AdventHealth, and the broader medical community," remarked Sheriff Staly. The Sheriff's Office has since launched a dedicated email, fakenursecase@flaglersheriff.com, to hear from anyone who may have received medical care from Bardisa. She is currently being held at Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility under a bond of $70,000 (approximately £52,000).
