Concertgoers Demand Better Facilities Amidst Growing Demand in India's Live Music Scene**

Indian fans express frustration over poor facilities at major concerts, highlighting issues in sanitation and crowd control.**

Concert-goers in India are increasingly dissatisfied with inadequate amenities despite the booming live music industry, prompting calls for improved infrastructure before large events.**

In recent weeks, fans attending concerts in India have begun voicing their discontent over inadequate facilities at high-profile events, particularly at a recent Dua Lipa concert in Mumbai. Attendees, like Anand Mehra, were expecting the usual excitement of a live performance but were instead greeted with subpar sanitation and overwhelming crowds. "The excitement quickly faded as I navigated through massive queues for smelly restrooms," Mehra shared.

The concert industry in India has seen a significant surge, generating impressive revenues, with major artists such as Dua Lipa, Diljit Dosanjh, and Maroon 5 attracting huge crowds. The revenue from music concerts in 2022 reached about 8 billion rupees ($94.1 million), with sales projected to rise by 25% by the end of 2025. Yet, glaring issues remain, as evidenced by a viral post from a Bryan Adams concert attendee who suffered from a lack of washroom facilities.

"Buying a ticket doesn't guarantee a good time anymore," lamented Priya Singh, a regular concertgoer who recounted nearly missing the show due to traffic congestion compounded by inadequate public transport near the venue in Mumbai. As the appetite for live events grows among India's well-off youth, the complaints echo across social media, with attendees questioning the value of their investments.

The coalition of public and private venue operators faces multiple challenges, leaving many concerts held at unsuitable locations like parking lots or mall rooftops to overcome logistical hurdles. Anmol Kukreja, co-founder of a live entertainment firm, explains that limited concert venues necessitate reliance on disparate locations, which can lead to poor sound quality and chaotic crowd management.

Despite the growth of the concert scene, industry insiders acknowledge the demand for improvements. Tej Brar, director of one of India's top music festivals, remarked that the cost burden of enhancing infrastructure at venues often deters smaller artists from gaining traction in the live music landscape.

Yet, the young audience continues to spend generously. Attendees return from experiences in countries like Germany, where concerts are backed by robust emerging standards. "I attended an Adele concert where the venue had clean facilities throughout the event. If I'm investing money, I expect that kind of quality," expressed Neha Reddy, a young professional.

While concert organisers appreciate the increasing revenue and exposure, they also know that the negative feedback regarding facilities could deter future attendance. Social media sentiment indicates that unless amenities such as clean toilets and accessible facilities are prioritized, what may have once been passionate concert enthusiasm could eventually wane.

As India prepares to host global icons like Ed Sheeran and Coldplay, the clamor for superior event management and infrastructure grows louder. There remains hope that fans attending the upcoming concerts will find an experience that matches their expectations—one that enriches the joy of live music rather than detracted from it. For many concert-goers in India, a balance needs to be struck, where the thrill of chaos doesn't lead to disappointment amidst the vibrant music culture.
