In the wake of the explosion, The Hague police announced on Tuesday that they apprehended three individuals in connection with the disaster. While four individuals were hospitalized with injuries, rescue teams worked tirelessly to recover victims from the wreckage, ultimately finding the sixth body on Monday morning.
Jan van Zanen, the mayor of The Hague, characterized the event as an “unprecedented disaster” during a news conference. As search and rescue efforts concluded, fire officials reported that the explosion had rendered 19 duplex apartments damaged, with five completely uninhabitable.
