Production on the new Harry Potter TV series has officially begun, with HBO unveiling the first image of 11-year-old Scottish actor Dominic McLaughlin dressed as the iconic Harry Potter. The adaptation, based on J.K. Rowling's beloved novels, aims to span a decade in its exploration of the storyline—significantly more extensive than the previous film adaptations.
Alongside McLaughlin, the production has cast several notable actors, including Rory Wilmot as Neville Longbottom, Amos Kitson as Dudley Dursley, Louise Brealey as Madam Rolanda Hooch, and Anton Lesser as Garrick Ollivander. They join a star-studded lineup featuring John Lithgow as Dumbledore, Nick Frost as Hagrid, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, and Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, with the central trio—Harry, Ron, and Hermione—previously introduced in May.
Filming will take place at Warner Bros Studios Leavesden in Hertfordshire, a familiar location, as it hosted the production of the eight previous Harry Potter films.
