**Trump Affirms He Will Not Pursue a Third Presidential Term**

**Amid speculation and constitutional bounds, Trump clarifies his position on term limits.**

**In a recent interview, President Trump addressed rumors about a potential third term, labeling them as distractions and affirming his commitment to serve two terms as mandated by the Constitution.**

US President Donald Trump has categorically stated that he is not contemplating a third run for the presidency, emphasizing that he values adherence to the constitutional two-term limit. During a Sunday interview on NBC's Meet the Press, Trump insisted, "I’ll be an eight-year president, I’ll be a two-term president. I always thought that was very important."

Despite his previous remarks regarding a desire for a third or even a fourth term, which he later claimed were meant to provoke the media, Trump now appears to be reining in those statements. Speculation had intensified recently, fueled in part by merchandise from The Trump Organization promoting "Trump 2028" gear, suggesting a potential bid to extend his time in office after his current term ends in January 2029.

In an interview recorded at his Florida residence last week, Trump mentioned that he has received numerous requests to consider another term. "So many people want me to do it," he noted, shortly after marking his first 100 days of his second term. However, he also reiterated, "This is not something I’m looking to do," while naming prominent Republicans like Vice-President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio as viable successors.

According to the Constitution’s 22nd Amendment, individuals are prohibited from being elected more than twice as president. Modifying this aspect of the Constitution would necessitate substantial legislative approval, yet some ardent Trump supporters maintain that there may exist a legal loophole untested in the court system. When pressed on any discussions about such theories, Trump sidestepped the question, indicating that he had heard various opinions from supporters.

The economic impacts of his presidency also emerged in the interview, where Trump dismissed criticisms regarding his tariff policies causing economic downturns, calling the current state a "transition period." He expressed confidence in a swift recovery, stating, “We’re going to do fantastically,” despite some indicators of economic shrinkage since 2022.

Trump’s stance on trade sparked further discussion, as he implied that American consumers might adjust their purchasing habits due to tariffs, mentioning, "They don't need to have 30 dolls. They can have three."

Questions surrounding due process arise as Trump continues to face scrutiny regarding his immigration policies, with some critics asserting violations of legal rights for those targeted by deportation efforts. Trump defended his administration by stating that his attorneys would ensure they align with Supreme Court rulings.

Moreover, Trump expressed no current intention to escalate military actions towards Canada or Greenland, commenting instead on perceived imbalances in trade. His future approach to immigration, as indicated by his ongoing emergency declaration, suggests he believes a significant crisis persists despite record lows in illegal crossings.

With mixed reactions from various quarters, Trump's statements bring both reassurance to supporters regarding his adherence to constitutional limits and alarm among detractors concerned about his policies and interpretations of legal norms.
