Deadly Bomb Attack Targets School Bus in Pakistan, Leaving Six Dead
A tragic incident in Balochistan Province marks a serious escalation in violence against vulnerable targets.
At least six individuals lost their lives, among them four schoolchildren, when a bomb struck a school bus in Pakistan’s Balochistan Province on Wednesday morning. The attack occurred in the Khuzdar district, which has been long affected by rebel activity and raised security concerns. Balochistan’s chief minister, Sarfraz Bugti, reported during a press conference that the bus driver and a helper also perished in the bombing, while several others sustained injuries.
“Forty-six students were on board the bus when it was targeted with a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device,” Bugti stated, emphasizing the growing trend of militant organizations targeting easier, more vulnerable victims, particularly children, in recent months.
This violent act took place roughly 180 miles south of Quetta, the provincial capital, along a crucial highway linking Quetta to Karachi, the capital of Sindh Province. The bus was transporting students from various locations to a military-run school situated in a high-security area, highlighting the risks faced by students seeking education in a region fraught with instability and danger.
