White House Declares Deported Man 'Will Never' Return to US Amid Controversy

Kilmar Ábrego García's wrongful deportation to El Salvador sparks political tensions as the White House affirms he will not be allowed reentry, despite legal battles.

The White House has reiterated its stance that Kilmar Ábrego García, a man mistakenly deported to El Salvador, will never return to the US. This declaration comes amidst legal challenges and accusations of domestic violence, intensifying the immigration debate in the midst of his ongoing legal struggles.

The White House has firmly asserted that Kilmar Ábrego García, a Salvadoran national erroneously deported from Maryland, will "never" be permitted to live in the United States again. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt emphasized this position in light of recent tensions surrounding immigration law enforcement, amidst growing legal challenges regarding his deportation.

The administration maintains that Mr. Ábrego García is affiliated with the violent MS-13 gang, a claim his legal representatives and family vehemently deny. Leavitt also pointed to domestic violence allegations stemming from a 2021 restraining order filed by Mr. Ábrego García’s wife; however, she expressed that the couple was able to reconcile their issues.

Judicial intervention has reflected continued concerns, with a Maryland judge ruling that the removals of Ábrego García violated a prior court order granting him protection from deportation. Despite the Supreme Court partially supporting this ruling, the White House insists there was no wrongful deportation, though it has been conceded that the action was an "administrative error."

While Judge Paula Xinis has requested regular updates on efforts to facilitate Ábrego García's return, the Department of Homeland Security has reported no developments. In contrast, Maryland Senator Chris Van Hollen's attempts to visit Ábrego García in El Salvador were thwarted, further highlighting the complexities of the situation.

Accompanying these events, the tragic murder of Rachel Morin, allegedly by an immigrant from El Salvador, has added urgency to the immigration discourse. Her mother, Patty Morin, called attention to the need for stringent border controls, inflaming political responses to Ábrego García's case from various congressional members.
